I wish I had the pictures of this original mess!!!
This kitchen hadn't been touched since it was built in the 50s.
wood paneling on all walls and nailed straight to the studs..NO Drywall!
No trap in the plumbing for the washer which was also in the kitchen and
stinking up the house with flammable sewer gases...
a "U" shaped formica counter for one person only, natural knotty pine
plank cabinets with no refridgerator space...just unusable...
We gutted the entire space to the studs and removed an unnecessary wall, a bad door,
a horrid sliding door, three layers of vinyl flooring and scrapped most of the
"popcorn" acoustical ceiling crud. Rewired the stove location and re-plumbed the washer... |
| |
You can see some of the old wall panelling here under the sink where I had to remove,
replace all the corroded plumbing due to the mix of copper to galvenized pipe
| And here is the old stove that used to be next to the washer!... |
| |
| New drywall, Busted out a 7 foot doorway into the living room and scraped the ceiling |
| |
All new cabinets and floating shelf (to be joined by another one above it soon...)
Oh, and how about we build a room for the washer with its own door.... |
| |
| New door and window, dryer room, paint... |
| |
| |
| |
| A great new light fixture adds a lot of sparkle!... |
| |
| And then came the flooring!... |
| |
| |
| |
| |
And this cool cabinet end detail with flooring material...

More finishing touches to come.... |
